A new map showing the locations of approved prescribed fires within Larimer County is now available on the county’s website at larimer.org/maps/todays_burns.cfm .
This map is intended to notify the public and first responders of prescribed fires in their area. It is the result of a collaborative effort between Larimer County Information Technology group and the Emergency Services group of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. The map is updated on a daily basis to show the address and approximate location of active prescribed fires conducted under an Open Burn Permit issued by local fire agencies or federal and state prescribed fires. Prescribed fires may include slash pile burns and broadcast burns.
Open Burn Permits are required for all non-federal prescribed fires in Larimer County . For more information on obtaining a permit go to larimer.org/burnpermit .
