Letter: Computer problems, but documents can still be recorded at Larimer County's Clerk and Recorder office

Editor:

Due to a technical countywide computer difficulty, the Clerk and Recorder electronic recording system is unavailable and cannot be accessed (this began at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016). Until this issue is resolved, documents presented to the Clerk and Recorder for recording cannot be indexed in the recording system, and such index is not available for searching purposes.

A a result of this computer difficulty, I have determined that there are extenuating circumstances requiring extension of the deadlines related to the following:

1) the provision of copies of recorded documents, and
2) the indexing of recorded documents.

These deadlines must be extended until the computer problem is fixed and the system is made available. Anyone wishing to record a document must present it in paper form to the Clerk and Recorder during normal office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 200 West Oak, Fort Collins, CO 80521, and payment must be made by cash or check only. Once the electronic recording system is back up and running all documents recorded in paper form will be indexed and scanned into the system. Any paper documents recorded during this time are available for inspection for copying upon request at the Clerk and Recorder office.

Any documents submitted electronically after our electronic system went down have not been recorded. We encourage you to check your queues to determine if any documents remainthere that you may wish to instead file in paper form to complete the recording process.

It is our hope that the system will be back up and operational next week. As the extent of this issue becomes known and updates become available, we will post them on the website at www.larimer.org/clerk/recording and also in the lobby of the Clerk and Recorder office. Follow us on Twitter @larimer_Clerk for timely information as well.

Although these technical issues are outside our control, we regret any inconvenience. Your patience is appreciated.
