Letter: Election's over, but you still have a voice

Editor:

The election is over and many of us are in shock. No time for that. At some point in January the Trump administration and Congress will begin to dismantle or outright repeal the Affordable Care Act. Will expanded Medicaid and the subsidies helping millions purchase health insurance end? Will children still be allowed to stay on their parents’ policies until age 26 or will that be lost? Will pre-existing conditions again be allowed to affect premiums or kick people off their policies? Will lifetime caps on how much healthcare you can use come back? All of these elements are part of the Affordable Care Act.

I strongly encourage you to contact your U.S. Senators (www.bennet.senate.gov and www.gardner.senate.gov) and U.S. congressional representatives (http://www.house.gov/representatives/find) by phone and fax (most effective), or e-mail at both their local and Washington, D.C, offices. Tell them your concerns about health care and how this will affect you, your family and our country if the ACA is repealed. Additionally tell them you want insurance and drug companies to be held accountable for outrageous price increases. Whether you are Republican, Democrat, or Independent we all need health care we can afford. Contact them now before it’s too late to give your input. You still have a voice to make a difference — let them hear you!
