Letter: Rep. Joann Ginal deserves your vote

Editor:

Seniors need attention, too, and we have a state representative who knows that!

I encourage all voters in District 52 to re-elect state Rep Joann Ginal.

Everyone is now either a senior or will hopefully become one sometime in the future. Rep. Ginal’s legislation concerning senior issues has been extremely supportive of older adults being able to get appropriate assistance to lead creative, healthy, and happy lives. She has consistently been involved with legislation dealing with affordable housing, affordable healthcare, home services, transportation solutions, elder abuse protection and drug cost transparency requirements, just to name a few.

My family has known Rep. Ginal for quite a few years. During those years we have talked about older adults’ needs within our Colorado communities. Joann is committed to positively impacting Seniors’ lives. One example is Rep. Ginal’s co-sponsoring a bill in 2015 concerning Elder Abuse.

Older adults are at an increasing risk of abuse and exploitation. No one knows how much Elder Abuse exists in Colorado. We just know that unfortunately it does exist. Her bill increases the number of classes of people required to report Elder Abuse and increases the funding for this program. One day I will need people looking after my welfare if I an unable to adequately do it for myself. This bill would benefit not just me if and when I am in need, but also everyone who is reading these paragraphs (and even those who aren’t!!).

I am a strong supporter of Rep. Joann Ginal for re-election and hope that people in District 52 will vote for her.
