Letter: Vote for Tom Donnelly

Editor:

Tom Donnelly has been a Larimer County commissioner for eight years and I want to reelect him. Tom says that he protects taxpayers and I’ve witnessed that in action. I participated in a commissioner sponsored listening session where the commissioners solicited ideas from citizens during tough budgeting years. In better economic times, they increased the county’s rainy day fund so that they were better prepared for events such as the 2013 floods and the High Park Fire. Furthermore, they were able to reduce a sales tax six months early and issue a $2.5 million property tax credit.

But Donnelly does more than just protect taxpayers, he’s been working for efficiencies and transparency in government other ways too. He’s led efforts to develop performance standards for the county. For more openness and accountability he led efforts for development of a county transparency website.

If you’re not familiar with Tom Donnelly I’d suggest that speaks well of him. He is quietly and efficiently doing his job and not seeking publicity for doing it. He’s the kind of commissioner I want. I hope you’ll agree and vote for him.
