Letter: Vote Yes for open space

Editor:

As a 3rd-generation Coloradan from a hunting and fishing family, I grew up in heaven. Those days spent playing, rambling, learning and exploring in Colorado’s outdoors made me who I am today.

I ask you to get out and VOTE YES FOR ISSUE 1A, which continues the existing 1/4-cent sales tax to protect the open spaces of Larimer County (not a tax increase). Since 1996 when this citizen-initiated tax began, thousands of acres of northern Colorado’s heaven have been conserved: working farms and ranches; open spaces; wildlife habitat; land to separate communities; trails for horseback riding, hiking and biking; places to hunt and fish.

We can’t go back to a 1950s Front Range, but we can continue smart planning and management for the future, so the kids of today and tomorrow can someday say, “I grew up in heaven, and it made me who I am today.”

Please, YES on 1A.
