Letter: Vote!

Editor:

We are all tired of this crazy election but we need to focus on the issues. We need to understand what we are voting for and how it will effect all people and businesses. So take the time to review all the material supplied to us and make decisions based on facts not impressions. What seems good for your wallet may cost you your job.

There are a lot of ballot issues for the Nov. 8 election. There are great, good and bad issues so put your stamp of approval on issues that help people and do not hurt businesses. In Larimer County owner income from their small business is about $30,000, which comes from about a 5 to 10 percent profit margin. In these small businesses that employ a large portion of the lower income residents, the increase in minimum wage and the 5 to 10 percent medical tax consumes this profit and leaves the business with little incentive to continue operation. The minimum wage increase could be tolerated but not with the addition of the state health insurance tax. These increased costs will be passed on to the customers, you and me!

We have been losing the battle to curb drug and alcohol addition and reduce the use of tobacco. Two ballot issues address these in different ways. Both ballot issues are there to help people help themselves but we need your support.

Our children are the future of our country and we are responsible to assure that they get a great education. Poudre School District is asking for funds needed to build needed schools and upgrade all the existing schools and facilities. Ballot issue 3B requests that the PSD be able to keep their current mill levy in place to pay off the new construction bonds and 3C requests that they be allowed to issue 375 million in bonds to pay for new construction and facilities repair. This will not increase the PSD mill levy but will assure that the PSD has the tools to teach our children.

I ask you to vote with your head and heart on the people and business issues and good luck in figuring out the rest. Yes, please VOTE!
