Letter: Your vote matters

To the Editor,

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the League of Women Voters for the recent candidate forum they hosted and to the candidates and citizens who took part. It was refreshing to see such a driven and diverse interest in the future of our fair town.

Truth be told, we are at a significant crossroads in not only the development of the town but how that development affects our lives as residents of Wellington. Decisions we make in the impending election will have an effect on not only the near future but likely the decades to come.

I for one hope the choices we make will allow us to not only grow at a responsible rate but also lay the foundation for a sustainable Wellington, one in which voices from all corners of our town are heard. As a fellow Wellingtonian I urge everyone to get involved, to pay attention, to add to the fray. Don’t fall victim to the stigma that your vote doesn’t matter, that you are only one. In Wellington ALL votes matter, ALL votes carry a voice.

So please join me in lifting up that voice and making yourself heard. You are a part of what defines our town and we’d all like to hear what you have to say.
