After living in Wellington for 19 years and serving on the town’s board of trustees for 16 of those years, Jack Brinkhoff, Wellington’s mayor since his election in April 2014, quietly resigned his position in early October.
In an email to the board of trustees he explained that he had taken a new job and had a limited amount of time to make the move. “I spent many good years getting to serve the community,” he said. He wished the board members well and thanked them for their commitment to the community.
Brinkhoff said that the time for him to leave was right, that he had tired of the demands of the job as mayor and was looking forward to a new career.
He has returned to LaPorte, where he lived 25 years ago and is rehabbing his new dwelling there. He works nearby as a project superintendent for Rob Graves at Morning Fresh Dairy. The two have known each other for many years. Until August of this year, Brinkhoff was employed by Mountain States Pipe and Supply based in Colorado Springs.
Former mayor pro tem Tim Singewald has been installed as mayor with a vote of five to one, trustee Matt Michel dissenting. Trustee Travis Harless has filled the mayor pro tem vacancy left by Singewald.
Applications for the vacant position on the board of trustees are available at the Wellington Town Hall.
