Meet Joshua Colton, pet stylist extraordinaire

Wellington Veterinary Clinic is proud to welcome their new groomer, Joshua Colton! He’s anxious and ready to take pet-styling appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Colton is a passionate animal lover and pet stylist. He has two dogs of his own, both Cairn Terriers (the Toto dog). They mean a lot to him and he says they’re more like his kids than just pets.

Joshua grew up in Texas and began his pet styling career in 2008. His mentor, Patsy Tallant, is one of three certified master stylists in Amarillo and is well-known in Texas and other southern states. He started in her salon as a bather in 2008 and was soon asked to fill a reception position. He was eager for the opportunity and enjoyed the interaction with the guests and dogs. A short time later, Patsy recognized Joshua’s interest in styling and asked him to apprentice under her.

Joshua considers himself a professional pet stylist and takes pride in every haircut he gives. He hopes to complete his certification and become a master stylist. The foremost industry certification comes from the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists and Colton plans on competing in future ISCC competitions — and making a big name for himself in the industry.

He’s worked as a pet stylist for four years and plans on staying in the profession until he retires. Joshua is thrilled to be a part of the team at Wellington Veterinary Clinic and can’t wait to show everyone his talents as a pet stylist. Call them today at 970-568-7387.
