Mishawaka cancels events until June 29

Although the Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Poudre Canyon is currently safe from the High Park Fire, the owners have decided to cancel all concerts scheduled through June 22. Conditions permitting, the Amphitheatre will reopen on June 19 for the concert by Dark Star Orchestra.

Colorado Highway 14 remains closed between Ted’s Place at the junction with U.S. Highway 287 and Walden, and evacuation orders are still standing for the Mish’s location on the Poudre River. In a release posted on the venue’s Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, the Mish management pointed out that “large gatherings in Poudre Canyon are deemed ill-advised for the time being.”

All ticket purchases and shuttle reservations will be automatically refunded for canceled events.

But once the evacuation is lifted and the highway reopened, staff plans to reopen the restaurant and bar, which is also an important gathering place for the canyon community.

“We want to open the doors as soon as we can to offer our distressed neighbors a place where they can gather and grab a bite,” General Manger Dani Grant said in the release. “Furthermore, we want to put our 50-plus employees back to work, not to mention the many contractors who depend on our business.”

Mishawaka’s daily operations have been closed since Sunday, June 10, due to the fast-moving fire, resulting in the loss of all perishable food inventory, according to the release. It went on to estimate the projected economic impact of the High Park Fire on the Mish, including hourly wages, food and beverage orders, concert production contracts and shuttle service providers’ losses at approximately $45,000 per week.

“Though we are immensely grateful that Mishawaka is still standing, our thoughts and compassion go out to all our friends and neighbors who the fire did not space,” Grant added.
