New Belgium co-founder Kim Jordan to give keynote address for 15th Sustainable Living Fair

The Sustainable Living Fair, taking place Sept. 20 & 21, is the largest event of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region, attracting over 11,000 attendees from across the country. The Fair offers a weekend of solution-based, interactive, family oriented events designed to educate people of all ages and backgrounds about sustainable living practices, renewable energy, green building, green living, Yoga and natural health, social responsibility, organic and local agriculture, and more.

The Sustainable Living Fair presents four diverse keynote speakers, 250 exhibitors, 75 workshops, hands-on demonstrations, Family Planet with activities for all age groups, an alternative fuel vehicle showcase, a silent auction, local food, live entertainment, and a beer garden with all local craft beer, wine, hard cider and mead.

Attendees represent a full spectrum of people from the novice recycler, to the leaders in sustainable living practices and renewable energy. There’s something for everyone who utilizes the earth’s natural resources.

Fair Hours
Fair is held at Legacy Park in Fort Collins (300 Woodlawn Drive)

Saturday, September 20: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday evening – Headliner: Iron Horse (Best of Pickin’ on Series) 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday, September 21: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday evening- The Mason Howlings with Jason Downing 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Powered by Nature
The Sustainable Living Fair will once again be powered completely on Alternative Energy. The main stage, workshops and exhibitors will operate on Biodiesel powered generators & solar trailers throughout the venue.

Keynote Speakers
Each year the Sustainable Living Fair features dynamic Keynote Speakers on the main stage. Over the years, fairgoers have heard inspiring words from speakers like Woody Harrelson, Ed Begley Jr., Amy Goodman, Frances Moore Lappe’, Gary Erickson (founder of Cliff Bar), Nick Forester (host of Etown), Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and many others.

Zero Waste Goal
It is encouraged that everyone go beyond recycling and help meet the Fairs’ Zero Waste Goal. There will be several “Zero Waste” Stations at the Fair with volunteers standing by to show how to effectively dispose of all waste products. By bringing your own service ware for your food and drinks and diverting waste to recycling and compost containers, this will significantly reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill.

New Parking Lot
The Fair will have a 12-acre lot just north of Odell Brewing on Buckingham and Third that will be available to all fair-goers this year. A FREE shuttle bus will run every 15 minutes to-and-from the Fair both days, compliments of the Mishawaka Event bus, and Green Ride Colorado. Handicapped parking available at the fair venue. Drive an Electric Vehicle
Also located at the new parking lot this year- another option is to ride to-and-from the fair in the cleanest and greenest of transportation- An Electric Car! Through a partnership with Drive Electric Northern Colorado, Tynan’s Nissan, Fort Collins Mitsubishi and Dellenbach Chevrolet, you can test drive from a variety of electric vehicles getting to or from the fair.

Free Bike Valet Parking is available to all Fair attendees who ride their bike to the event. Tune-ups and inspections will also be available. If you’re traveling into Fort Collins and need a bike, please contact the Fort Collins Bike Library www.fcbikelibrary.org to reserve a bike for the weekend of the Fair.

The Sustainable Living Association’s mission is to educate people and communities to make healthy sustainable choices. SLA has become well known for its annual educational event, the Sustainable Living Fair, the largest event of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region. SLA also offers a series of year round workshops that help educate people about sustainable living practices, renewable energy systems, sustainable/local agriculture, using backyard gardens more productively, and adopting methods for reducing carbon footprints.
