As of April 1, campers without camping reservations arriving at the Horsetooth, Carter Lake, Flatiron and Pinewood reservoirs will have new locations for checking into a camping spot.
Horsetooth Reservoir campers will now have to check in at the South Bay Entrance Station at 4200 W. County Road 38E.
Until May 15, check-in will be allowed 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday the check-in times will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
From May 15 to Sept. 6, Horsetooth Reservoir campers are advised to visit South Bay or Inlet Bay Entrance Stations for available campsites. Campgrounds typically are full on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend so campers are advised to make reservations.
Campers at the Carter Lake, Flatiron and Pinewood Reservoirs will check in at the Larimer County Natural Resources’ Administrative Office, located at 1800 S. County Road 31.
From April 1 to Oct. 31 the check-in times will be the following: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
These new check in locations only apply to those who are wishing to camp and do not have a reservation. Reservations are accepted from 180 days to one day in advance.
Camping reservations can be made at www.larimercamping.com or 1-800-397-7795.
Campers arriving with a reservation can purchase any needed permits at the entrance stations and drive directly to their campsites.
