Old-fashioned political rally offers election information and fun

A great way to learn about candidates and issues in the upcoming election is at the Old-Fashioned Political Rally on Oct. 12.

Now in its 20th year, the rally will be from 5:30-9 p.m. in the First National Bank West Exposition Hall at the Larimer County Fairgrounds, The Ranch, at Interstate 25 and Crossroads Boulevard in Loveland.

National, state and local candidates will be on hand to make three- to five-minute speeches. This will not, however, be a debate and surrogates for the candidates are not permitted.

Candidates, supporters, and opponents of state and local ballot issues will staff booths to speak with citizens and distribute information. The Larimer County League of Women Voters will offer general information regarding the Nov. 6 election.

The rally is a festive event aimed at evoking good old-fashioned patriotic enthusiasm for the electoral process.

Admission is free and free popcorn, coffee and lemonade will be available as well as concessions for purchase.

The rally is sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, and the Loveland Reporter-Herald.
