Pingree Hill prescribed burn update

The Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest successfully burned 145 acres of the Pingree Hill Prescribed Burn, located north of Highway 14 east of Rustic, this October. Firefighters continue to monitor the burn area.

Burning of the remaining acres of this 2,027-acres project could happen any time as long as conditions, including weather, fuel moisture and staffing, allow. Changing weather patterns and staffing conditions have led to halting additional burning this calendar year.

Remaining firefighters will start to turn their focus to pile burning, once snow starts to accumulate across the district. Detailed information on pile burning can be found online at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/clrdrxfire.
