Post Paradise – Digging Secrets

post-paradise
Only weeks after a string of incredibly strong showcases at SXSW in Austin, TX, local favorites Post Paradise are ready to release their follow up to 2011’s The New Normal. The release date set for May 18th, Digging Secrets picks up where we were last dropped off by Post Paradise; a late-nineties alternative utopia, a place where indie brilliantly fuses with hard rock. Of course, this sound is a sound heard before, perhaps a sound that has come and gone, some may say. However, Post Paradise clearly sets themselves apart from the rest of this field, thanks in large part to the underlying, unique sound of Amy Morgan on cello. Morgan intricately weaves her way through the album, cleverly meandering around Nick Duarte’s edgy vocals and heavy guitar riffs. Digging Secrets is fitted with a number of musically diverse highlights, most notably in the seductive intrigue of the album’s title track. The nostalgically instrumental “This Was Us” offers the listener to step back for just a moment before jumping back into the band’s signature sound, while “Here Come the Wolves” offers a thriller of a conclusion to the fast-paced, high-energy album. Check out the release party for Digging Secrets on May 18 at Hodi’s Half Note with supporting bands Rachel and the Kings and Shatterproof.
