Red Feather Lakes Community Library update for July, 2012

As this is being written the High Park Fire remains a considerable force here in the greater Red Feather Lakes area and the surrounding Poudre Canyon region. Events noted below are subject to change as fire conditions change. We will keep you updated through the library website at redfeatherlibrary.org and through the library email announcement list and community list. Library hours remain through this period 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday. We will extend hours as we have the staff to do so and as conditions warrant. We also offer wireless access, within the library during regular open hours and outside 24/7.

In conjunction with the area 4th of July celebration, the Friends of the Library will be conducting the second of the season’s book sales, proceeds going to support library activities. Sale dates are Thursday, July 5 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, July 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 7 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday July 8 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Noted Colorado photographer Jack Hicks is donating three photographs to the Friends of the Library as a fund raiser. Jack retired in 2002, after a career with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He how gets to spend his time with his cameras and critters. His images have been publicly displayed in Red Feather Lakes, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Windsor, Greeley and Loveland, Colorado. July 3, 2 p.m.: Don’t Be Caught in (S)camelot: Prevent Fraud and ID Theft presented by Susan Vance.
July 10, 2 p.m.: Finding the Blessing in Alzheimer’s, presented by locals Wayne and Terri Baltz, from their book Fierce Blessing.
July 10, 5 p.m.: Introduction to PowerPoint.
July 14, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Have Search and Rescue Dogs find you. Outdoor excursion at Chicken Park (but, meet initially at the library). Bring lunch, water and outdoor gear as appropriate.
July 14, 1:30 p.m.: Digital Photography Interest Group.
July 14, 3:30 p.m.: Colorado Diamonds, presented by Pete Modreski, US Geological Survey and ardent rock-hound.
July 17, 2:50 p.m.: Craft & Snack, for grade levels K-5.
July 20, 1 p.m.: Tech tool time: tips to make traversing PC technology easier.
July 21, Solar Energy and Weather, presented by Dr. Matt Rogers.
July 28, 11 a.m.: Personal Safety, presented by Susan Vance, Crime Prevention Specialist.
July 31, 1 p.m.: Getting started with email.
