Red Feather Lakes Community Library update for May, 2013

This month we’re touting a “don’t miss” event. The Red Feather Lakes Friends of the Library — our fundraising sister organization — presents “For the Beauty of the Earth” a concert to benefit the Red Feather Lakes Community Library. Featured artists are pianists Patricia Burge and Mary Rudy as well as cellist Ben Koch.

The concert will be held May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Morning Star Community Church, 23628 Red Feather Lakes Road, Red Feather Lakes. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall downstairs following. Good will donations will be kindly accepted.

Also, area residents: don’t miss the 9HealthFair, May 4 from 7 to 11 a.m. This is a cost-effective way of charting your own health. For more information contact Joan at 970-881-2498

The library district has a Board of Trustees vacancy. If you would be interested in helping chart the course of the library over the next three years, please contact the library at 970-881-2664 or librarian@redfeatherlibrary.org for more information or an application.

Have a nonprofit or community event you’d like to publicize? We’d like to assist. The library maintains an e-mail list of interested individuals that appreciates being informed of community events, activities and other useful local-interest information. You may submit a non-profit, community-minded notice by e-mailing it to librarian@redfeatherlibrary.org, or otherwise sign up to receive periodic community messages by contacting us at the same address.

We do ask that submissions be signed by an individual or organization to confirm sponsorship. Entries are subject to limited formatting and editing, and also subject to review: we can’t advertise your personal yard sale, but we’re most happy to spread the word about your group’s community activity or fundraiser.

For obtaining (or submitting) local information we also highly recommend the area e-mail list maintained by local resident Pat Clemens. You can submit an event or sign-on to the list by contacting her at mtgal@frii.com.

The library also maintains an announcement e-mail list for all things library: upcoming programs, special events, special notices, changes in operation or policy and all else library-related. You can join this e-mail list by contacting us, again, at librarian@redfeatherlibrary.org.

May activities: Beginning May 3, our twice-monthly tech classes become Tech Friday, a weekly informal discussion, question-and-answer or demonstration period, sometimes theme-based, often open forum. For example, the May 3 kickoff will be a demonstration on setting up an online e-mail account.
