Red Feather Lakes library looking for a few good board members

First, important Friends of the Library notes from President Ann McKay:

We are starting our annual membership drive. Membership forms are available at the library or given us a call (the library, 970-881-2664) and we will e-mail (or mail) a copy to your home. Please join at a level that is comfortable for you.

The Friends of the RFL Community Library is looking for one or two board members. We meet only five times from May — September each year of the three-year term. This is a great opportunity to serve our wonderful community library. Interested? Please e-mail Ann at [email protected].

We have a great Friends annual dinner meeting June 23 at Western Ridge Restaurant starting at 5:30 p.m. This includes a social time, delicious food, a short business meeting and entertainment.

Our used book sale will be held at the library from the afternoon of May 26 to (morning only) May 29. Come in for some terrific bargains on hardcover and paperback titles as well as videos, CD’s and DVD’s.

For information on these items contact Ann at [email protected] or call the library (at again, 970-881-2664).

In other library news we received a grant last fall from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The library was able to buy much needed supplies to keep our energetic youth having fun, practicing different skills, building strength and improving their health. We would like to thank NNML for their generous grant, support and enthusiasm for our small community.

And, we pleased to announce Boopsie for Libraries — specifically now for participating Colorado libraries rechristened Findit Colorado, an app for your portable iOS, Android or Amazon Fire device. It’s free and can be downloaded at http://co.boopsie.com. This app allows you, from the convenience of your smart phone or tablet, connect with twenty participating Colorado libraries, from Denver to (what we hope) is your favorite hometown mountain library — us. Using the app, you can set a default for home library — which we again hope is us — and then variously search the library catalog, place holds on titles, check your personal library online account, renew what you have checked out, review upcoming library events, send us a message, use library online resources – such as Britannica School — access the library webpage and check-out and download e-Books and e-audio. The later feature includes AspenCat 3M titles — OverDrive access is coming.

We think you’ll enjoy Boopsie and find it very convenient.

Through June and July, our Summer Reading Program continues with some great incentive prizes. Sign up anytime.

June 20, we’re hosting Joy Johnson irascible author of the B.O.O.B (Burned-Out Old Broads) mystery/comedy series of books. Join us at 11 a.m.

June 26, 1 p.m, author Carmen Mendoza will booktalk “Road to Soul: 7 Captivating Short Stories” and the title says it all.
