Registration for Wellington summer activities opens April 14

Registration is underway for adult co-ed softball. Twelve teams took advantage of our early bird discount. This was the first time we ran our early discount — great response even if the system didn’t automatically calculate the discount. We will make sure the early teams get their discount refunded. Registration closes April 11 or when leagues fill.

Registration for other summer adult and youth activities opens April 14. Adults can register for co-ed soccer. For the youth we will offer T-ball, coach/player pitch baseball, girls slow-pitch softball and soccer for ages 10-15.

The batting cages are scheduled to open May 5. You may wonder why we wait so long to open the cages. The machines will not pitch with consistent accuracy if the temperature is less than 65 degrees. Tokens are only $1, but most people don’t want to pull a Happy Gilmore and take a pitch to the body.

In April you may notice activity at the Library Park ballfields. We will be installing a new backstop on the north field. Both infields will also be laser leveled which will give players a better-quality playing surface. Weather permitting, we will also have covers installed over the dugouts. We’re looking forward to a great summer season.
