Slash pile burning planned Feb. 5 for Deadman area northwest of Red Feather Lakes

U.S. Forest Service firefighters did not have adequate snow cover Feb. 4 to burn slash piles in the West Beaver project area, located approximately 5 miles northwest of the Crystal Lakes subdivision.

Burning is planned for today in the Deadman area northwest of Red Feather Lakes, but could continue through the week as conditions allow. Snow in this area is estimated at over a foot.

Conditions are evaluated each day of the burn to determine if ignition will take place. Wind, fuel moisture, staffing and snow cover all play a factor in where and whether ignition occurs.
