Slash pile burns scheduled Feb. 4 near Crystal Lakes

U.S. Forest Service firefighters plan to burn slash piles in the West Beaver project area, located approximately 5 miles northwest of the Crystal Lakes subdivision. Burning is planned for later today but could continue through the week as conditions allow. The district continues to monitor other pile areas. Firefighters on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District have burned more than 1,700 piles this winter.

Conditions are evaluated each day of the burn to determine if ignition will take place. Wind, fuel moisture, staffing and snow cover all play a factor in where and whether ignition occurs.
