Soap-making class offered May 1 by Sustainable Living Association

A basic soap-making workshop sponsored by the Sustainable Living Association will be held May 1, 6 to 8 p.m., at River Rock Commons, 520 N. Sherwood Street in Fort Collins

This is a beginner’s class on how to make soap. Students can expect a hands-on class where they will learn the basics of soap making, how to safely handle lye, using essential oils, tips on cutting and wrapping their soap for gifts and where to go to find supplies. This course is a prerequisite for the advanced class – making mocha latte, layered coffee soap and also clear glycerin soap with imbeds.

Each student will have a hand in making a batch of honey-almond scented soap and will take home several bars. The course is taught by professional soap-maker Alyssa Young of Pure Elixir in Fort Collins. No children please. Class details: $65 per person/8 people max
