Sustainable Living Association to participate in Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 4

The Sustainable Living Association will be participating in Colorado Gives Day, an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving to Colorado charities. Presented by Community First Foundation, Colorado Gives Day is a 24-hour period on Dec. 4 to “Give where you live” by making online donations to the hundreds of charities featured on Community First Foundation’s online giving resource, GivingFirst.org. As a profiled charity on GivingFirst.org, the Sustainable Living Association will benefit from this initiative.

Coloradans can support the work of the Sustainable Living Association on Colorado Gives Day by helping to raise $10,000 in support of the annual Sustainable Living Fair. Now in its 14th year, the fair is a fun and interactive family-oriented educational event, supported by community efforts and collaboration.

“During this day of giving, we want to emphasize our progress as a leading source for sustainable living education in Colorado,” says Kellie Falbo, Executive Director. “We have been at the forefront of the sustainability movement in the Rocky Mountain region for more than a decade and our success depends on the support of our greater community.”

The Sustainable Living Fair is the largest of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region, providing 150 hours of education to more than 11,000 attendees over the course of a weekend. People of all ages are able to learn what it means to live a more sustainable life and why we need to consider these options now.

“It is our goal to provide the information and skill sets that empower individuals to make healthy and earthwise decisions” says Falbo. “As educated community members, we can each reduce the impact on our environment by developing sustainable lifestyles. Living a sustainable lifestyle ensures that social, environmental and economic systems offer a healthy and meaningful life for our citizens, without compromising these factors for future generations. Colorado Gives Day is an ideal outlet for raising awareness of the need to support organizations like ours.”

“We are proud that Colorado Gives Day has served Colorado’s nonprofits so well,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Last year, 93 percent of the nonprofits acquired new donors and collaboration among nonprofits was at an all-time high. Given the generosity of Colorado’s communities and the excellent work of its nonprofits, we look forward to what 2012 will bring.”
