Taarka – Adventures in Vagabondia

3.5 Stars out of 5
As its title suggests, Taarka’s latest release, Adventures in Vagabondia, is an amalgamation of meandering, weaving acoustic strings. It is as if Taarka, headed by the husband-wife duo David and Enion Pelta-Tiller, gathered their incredibly musically gifted friends and orchestrated both the plot and soundtrack of a roaming fairy tale. The album itself is quite the journey, with crescendoing climaxes, joyful bouts and brief episodes of mystery and intrigue. Though Taarka’s sound uniquely incorporates hints of ‘gypsy jazz,’ with seemingly Eastern Europe influences, they never stray too far from their Lyons, CO. roots, always returning in force with bluegrass and the familiar Colorado folk rock. Be on the lookout for upcoming appearances by Taarka at some Colorado festivals this spring and summer.
