The Early Sides – By and By

When listening The Early Sides’ By and By you are taken through a particular journey. You picture quiet fall afternoons spent in reflection of where your life was, is and where it may go. You think falling leaves and the changing of the seasons; young love and moving on; youth and how fast it passes you by. The happy times, the sad times, all mixed into one album with creative and captivating lyrics. Opening with the title track you can already feel hint of relaxation and calm on a sunny afternoon. With lyrics that tell you to, “watch the clouds go by and by” you can’t help but get sucked into the moment. The second track changes it up with a nice country-blues “woe is me” tinge to it. Then the album gets more upbeat in the third track and after that it goes between those styles of songs. This album is a healthy mix of Americana and indie-rock to put you in the mood for a nice quite afternoon full of dynamic guitar solos, a calm husky voice with lighter harmonies to fill you up. Then, closing the album is the ballad of “One Hundred Deep” that can make you drift away into a cozy cat nap. I highly recommend picking this album up and sharing in the experience.
