Tower Road near Red Feather Lakes temporarily closed during tree removal

The Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest has temporarily closed the Tower Road (FSR170) starting September 19 for public safety due to tree cutting and removal along much of the length of the road.

Tower Road is located west of Red Feather Lakes and takes off from the Deadman Road (Larimer County Road 86). It leads to the Deadman Lookout Tower, which is now closed for the season. The road is closed to all forms of travel.

Along with the road, 200 feet on either side of the road is also closed as heavy equipment and logging trucks may be on and along the road. Some equipment used can throw chunks of wood and rocks with great force, posing a serious threat to those in the area. This closure will be in place while operations are taking place.
