U.S. Forest Service extends comment period for recreational sport shooting

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest is extending the comment period for the proposed Forest Plan Management Direction for recreational sport shooting activities on National Forest System lands in Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Jefferson, Larimer and Park counties. Comments will continue to be accepted until Sept. 9, to provide additional time for review and comment on the proposal.

The proposed Forest Plan direction includes two goals and four objectives for recreational sport shooting. A map displays this proposed direction on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests identifying the National Forest lands suitable for dispersed recreational sport shooting using current regulations, not suitable for dispersed recreational sport shooting, and proposed as designated shooting areas. The proposed management direction does not include any change in management for lawful hunting activities. Information about the proposal and how to comment is online at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/recshootingmgt.

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests will also host an open house in Fort Collins:

• Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Canyon Lakes Ranger District
2150 Centre Avenue, Building E, Fort Collins
