Evening at the Gallery scheduled for Livermore Community Hall

Thanks to the enthusiasm and efforts of two area residents, there’s going to be an out-of-the-ordinary exhibit of some of the finest art work in the Livermore area this fall. Scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. on September 9 at the Livermore Community Hall on County Road 74E, their “Evening at the Gallery” will feature sparkling wine, gourmet desserts, and a raffle for two paintings created by co- hostess, Terry Butts. Music will be provided by local musicians, including guitarist (and artist) Wendy Francisco, and recorder player (and co-hostess) Cindy Henk and friends.

The concept for the show grew out of the co-hostesses’ admiration for the quality and variety of art work they observed among people living in the area, and the wish to highlight community resources such as the Livermore Community Hall. The show will be anonymously juried and each of the artists selected will have the opportunity to utilize 80 square feet of hanging space. Artists may arrange to sell their works privately at the event.

“Terry and I agreed that we needed to provide an opportunity for local artists and musicians to reveal their talent and share their work with others in Livermore and in the surrounding community,” Henk said. “Right now much of the local art is a well-kept secret. We are anticipating an attendance of 200 people or so.”

Closer to the date of the event, Butts and Henk will be publicizing this open house gallery exhibit via neighborhood email servers, local networks and posted flyers, as well as some unique “Burma Shave“ style signs at the Livermore Community Hall.

“We hope this might become an annual show,” Henk said. “This year we are focusing on featuring exhibitors and musicians from the local area although everyone is invited to attend. This is a party!”
Entry is free.
