It is the month of romance. Why not indulge yourself and a special friend in a weekend away? Here are a few suggestions.

Chipeta Solar Springs Resort, 304 South Lena, Ridgway, Colorado. “An alpine paradise for romantic celebrations.” This boutique resort has 29 designer rooms, many with fireplaces and private hot tubs and balconies. Ridgway is a former railroad stop on the Uncompahgre River in the northern San Juan Mountains near Ouray, Colorado. They offer a “Relax Romance” package starting at $542 for two nights—or it could be more. You get chocolate truffles, wine, flowers in the room and a 50-minute customized massage. It will cost you almost double ($1087) for a four-night stay to enjoy a full Wellness Package. You’ll get a day pass to Orvis Hot Springs, a robe to take home with you, a Himalayan Heaven Spa treatment and a private yoga session. Other less expensive options ranging from $175 a night are available. Reports describe this place as a “heavenly hidden gem,” with “the best view and best chef in Ouray County,” and, from The Denver Post, “one of Colorado’s top 10 inns.” Outside Magazine calls it “one of the top adventure resorts in the Southwest.”

Explore HomeAway booking online to learn more about this charming little 1903 home available starting at $94 a night. You’ll find it in Old Colorado City, on the southern edge of the Rocky Mountains. Two beds, one bath, Jacuzzi and lots of charm. Easy access to shops and restaurants. Call (888) 640-7927 for detailed information.

Cross state lines to get an authentic getaway feeling without straining your pocketbook. You’ll find an incredible bargain if you choose to spend a couple of nights at the historic old Wolf Hotel, 101 East Bridge Street in Saratoga, Wyoming. Rooms run $50 to $75 a night—yep! Old and rustic, but this place is a nine-minute walk to the 70-foot Saratoga Hot Springs pool and less than a mile from the town’s museum. Give them a call at (307) 326-5525. Of course, you have other options in Saratoga, including the well-known Saratoga Hot Springs Resort, 601 Pic Pike Road, (307) 326-5261, on the North Platte River, and the Riviera Lodge, 104 East Saratoga Avenue, (307) 326-5651. “Functional hotel with prices as low at $70 a night!”
