Bingham Hill events center back before commissioners on Dec. 3

The Larimer County Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. to decide whether Randall and Sheryl Pope can hold events on their Bingham Hill property – and if so, how many and what kind.

The commissioners heard this latest proposal in the long-running quest for a community hall/event center at their Oct. 15 Land Use Hearing. In this iteration, the Popes are asking permission to hold 22 celebratory events and eight seasonal camp sessions at 3924 Bingham Hill Road. They are also requesting off-premise signage for the hall.

The LaPorte Area Planning Advisory Committee rejected this request in August. In September the county Planning Commission recommended allowing the events and camp sessions — with certain conditions — but denying the signage.

The commissioners debated what those conditions should be but did not reach a decision. Instead, they tabled the issue until their first Land Use hearing in December.

The commissioners also set a worksession with Planning staff at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 29, to give staff direction on developing proposed conditions to be deliberated in December.
