County manager internal search yields eight applicants

By the April 23 deadline, the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners had received eight applications from current county employees interested in becoming the next county manager.

Frank Lancaster is leaving the position he has held for 18 years on May 11 to become the town manager of Estes Park. The next step in the process to find his replacement is for the commissioners to screen the applicants in executive session Tuesday, May 1, and announce finalists on Wednesday, May 2.

The commissioners expect to make a decision on or about May 16 and the new county manager could begin by late May or early June. Assistant County Manager Neil Gluckman will be acting county manager in the interim.

The job of the candidate selected will be held open during a six-month probationary period.
