Larimer County Extension food preservation workshops for June 2014

The Larimer County Extension Office announces the following food preservation workshops to be offered in June:

Canning Basics for Safe Preserving: Learn all about the “how and why” of preserving food at home. This workshop focuses on canning safety, types of equipment and proper canning methods. For beginners or those needing a refresher.
Wednesday, June 4, 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Workshop Fee: $25

Community Message

Water Bath Canning: Learn how to safely can high acid foods in this hands-on workshop. The boiling water canning technique can be used to preserve fruit, salsa, pickles, tomatoes, jams, jellies – and more. This workshop is good for beginning canners or those wanting to update their skills.
Thursday, June 12, 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Workshop Fee: $30

The Art and Science of Dehydrating Foods: Drying is a creative way to preserve foods. Learn basic methods of drying fruits, vegetables, herbs, leathers and jerkies. Ideas for using dehydrated foods will be included.
Wednesday, June 18, 6 – 8 p.m.
Workshop Fee: $25

Pre-registration is required for workshops and space is limited. Register online at www.larimer.org/ext or call 498-6000. All workshops held at Larimer County Extension Office, 1525 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins.
