June 9 marks the one-year anniversary of the start of the High Park Fire. To commemorate the date, the museum will feature photographs and video from the High Park Fire in a new Community Focus display located in the main lobby, which is open to the public without admission during regular business hours. The Community Focus display encourages sharing information between the museum, the community, and other resources. FCMoD encourages community members to share stories, photographs, and more relating to their experience with the High Park Fire.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on June 9, the museum will also host several agencies and organizations that were involved with the High Park Fire firefighting efforts and survivor recovery services. Visitors will be able to talk with representatives from the US Forest Service and local recovery teams to hear about how they helped in this community during and after the fire. Don’t forget to check out the gallery activities to learn about the science behind wildfires and how they behave.
