As both the group’s name and the album title may subtly imply, there is a certain focus for Fort Collins’ stoner rap group Kind Dub Krew. Time to roll another blunt/don’t matter if you low/we got pounds up in the trunk they rap in “Hood Life,” with track names such as “Mt. Puffmore,” “Weed the People,” and “Daily Toker Interlude.” Short skits interspersed throughout the album feature Krew ‘news reporter’ Eddie ‘Dirty’ Sanches commenting on the arrival of the ‘saviors of hip hop’ cleaning up the music industry and fomenting revolution. The themes are evident on Weed the People; the need for a revolution of the people, the promise of authentic hip hop, and of course, Colorado marijuana. Everything from design to release of the album was done by Kind Dub Krew itself, displaying an impressive sense of cohesiveness and community in hip hop. Watch out for Kind Dub Krew in the coming weeks for shows along the Front Range, after

last month’s Weed the People release.
