Kindergartners learn safety at Poudre School District sessions

Poudre School District’s safety sessions for kindergartners, early childhood students and first graders are planned for the week of Aug. 15 at most PSD elementary schools. Children entering kindergarten this fall, along with their parents, are encouraged to attend the free “I Walk & Ride Safely” program sponsored by PSD, the Fort Collins Police Department and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.

Older students are also welcome to attend.

Children will learn how to walk to school or ride a school bus safely. The training, given under actual traffic conditions, will include information about crosswalks, signs, traffic signals, automobile traffic and crossing guards.

Schools in the North Forty News readership area will offer the program on the following days:
Tuesday, Aug. 16, 8:30 a.m.: Cache La Poudre, Tavelli, Eyestone and Rice elementary schools.
Thursday, Aug. 18, 8:30 a.m.: Irish Elementary School.

For programs at other schools, visit www.psdschools.org or call 970-490-3141.
