Larimer County Workforce Center providing free GED pre-tests for youth

The Larimer County Workforce Center is providing free official GED Ready pre-tests to young adults, ages 16-21, to help determine their readiness for the GED exam. The pre-test is available in Ft. Collins and Loveland.

The Larimer County Workforce Center’s Youth Services mission is to foster community and business partnerships by enhancing the employability of Larimer County youth through education, training and career exposure, while providing direct support and advocacy. Some of the services at the LCWC are dedicated to helping Larimer County youth living in low socio-economic households who face barriers to their education and employment. Due to a community need that has been identified, we are now hosting the official GED Ready tests, at no-cost, to aid any interested young adults in determining their readiness for the formal GED exam. Additional GED remediation services may be available for qualified participants to assist in preparing for the exam.

Many YouthLINK participants enter services having withdrawn from high school and are interested in earning their GED. Participants work one-on-one with a career specialist to create an individualized career development plan which often includes the goal of obtaining their secondary education credential. Youth have access to individualized tutors to work on the identified educational needs, opportunities to connect with other GED resource partners in the community, and the funding assistance to pay for the exam.

For more information about the no-cost GED pre-tests or the other services provided through the YouthLINK Program, contact Mark Johnston at 970-498-6624, [email protected] or Monica Gingerich at 970-498-6631, [email protected]
