Letter: Local scouts collect food for Wellington Food Bank

Editor:

Community involvement and service with a smile! This is what it’s all about! Boy Scout Troop 94 and Cub Scout Pack 92 came together to collect food to fill our local food bank here in Wellington. They took time out of their week to blanket the town of Wellington with fliers announcing their upcoming food drive and donated an entire Saturday to picking up donated food and other items.

The donated food was brought back to Wellington Community Church where the scouts took the time to sort the food and box it for the volunteers that operate the Wellington Food Bank.

Troop 94 and Pack 92 work together every year to collect for the food bank that supports over 70 families in the Wellington area. This year the scouts collected 3.5 tons of food.

We would like to thank the residents of Wellington for their generous support of the scouts in their efforts to help others. The scouts were also supported in their efforts by First National Bank, Ace Hardware, Bella’s Market, Family Dollar, Wellington Community Church and Zion Lutheran Church. If you’re interested in having your son learn about supporting his community in a positive way give us a call 970-388-0027.
