LITTLE KIDS ROCK

Little Kids Rock Pic 2

August is back to school month, and the Bohemian Foundation wants to help make education in Fort Collins rock! This past July, with support of the Bohemian Foundation, Fort Collins hosted the third annual Little Kids Rock Modern Band Rockfest. The Rockfest is a national conference that brought in more than 200 teachers from around the nation. The focus of the event was to train teachers in modern band, a program that connects learning to music. Little Kids Rock has now partnered with 26 schools in the Poudre School District; the organization donates instruments, curricula, and ongoing professional development that music and classroom teachers need to run the Modern Band Program. The Modern Band Program engages children by teaching them the musical styles they already know, as well as teaching to play instruments and use technology found in today’s music.
