From the Aggie Theatre to a most of our microbreweries, and even the actual Horsetooth Rock geological site, there are so many things that Fort Collins can share with the world just by creating a simple, accurate Wikipedia entry.

Just check out the Fort Collins Wikipedia page itself! Does it seem like an accurate representation of your hometown, or are there gaps that need to be filled?

Well, we’re inviting you to do just that – help us fill in the gaps for Fort Collins and Northern Colorado on Wikipedia. The Poudre River Public Library District is hosting a Fort Collins Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon at the Old Town Library to get Fort Collins on the Wikipedia map, and on the world’s radar on Saturday, November 9 from 2-5 p.m.

Help us foster the great Fort Collins community by putting our notable businesses, locations, historical places, and people on the map, and describing the pieces of our city that are notable but have no presence on Wikipedia.

Bring your laptop! We’ll have a learning session on how to edit and create Wikipedia pages to makes sure that what you write has a low chance of being removed, followed by a mass creation and edit session.

Afterward, we’ll be showing the movie “Truth in Numbers? Everything, According to Wikipedia.” This 2010 American documentary film explores the history and cultural implications of the online user-editable encyclopedia Wikipedia. The film attempts to answer the question of whether all kinds of individuals or just experts should be tasked with editing an encyclopedia. A history and background of the website is given, as well as commentary from Wikipedia founders Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger.
