Poudre Schools issues statement about April 18 bus accident

From Poudre School District:

Earlier today, a PSD bus was involved in a traffic accident with nine students from Wellington Middle School and Eyestone Elementary on board.

Three students and the bus driver sustained minor injuries from the accident and were sent to a local hospital. We can report that the students and bus driver were treated and sent home this morning. We have no information regarding the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident. Our best wishes are with her and her family.

The pictures of this accident in local media and on social media outlets caused great community concern. We appreciate the calls and emails asking about our students and staff.

Colorado State Patrol is currently handling the accident investigation. In situations such as these, we defer to law enforcement regarding communication about the accident itself.

The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority. To help students and staff deal with this situation, school counselors and the PSD mental health team will be working diligently throughout the day with those involved.
