Plastic bag recycling challenge under way at Cache La Poudre Elementary

Cache La Poudre Elementary in LaPorte is looking to win Albertsons gift cards for future CLPE events, so bring your plastic bags for recycling to CLPE until Nov. 11.

The school will take them to Albertsons to be recycled. Please recycle only clean, dry plastic bags. Remove receipts or any other items from bags.

• grocery bag (from any retailer)
• newspaper bags
• dry cleaning bags
• bread bags
• produce bags
• plastic food storage bags (clean and dry) (e.g. Ziploc bags)
• All clean, dry bags with the recycling label “2” or “4.”

Do not include the following (considered contaminants and could jeopardize recycling programs): No food or cling wrap, no prepackaged food bags — including frozen food bags (e.g. prewashed salad bags), no other bags or films and no degradable bags.

Schools with the most bags by weight in each Albertsons’ district will be awarded as follows: 1st place – $500 Albertsons gift card; 2nd place -$250 gift card; 3rd place – $150 gift card; 4th and 5th place – $50 gift card.
