Blend Chorus offering free voice lessons as part of Sweet Adelines initiative

All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing. Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to The Blend Chorus for free voice lessons at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 and 27, and Feb. 3 and 17 at Community of Christ Church, 220 E. Oak St. in Fort Collins. The Blend Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part, barbershop-style harmony.

So you think you can’t sing? The Blend Chorus members share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony and will teach you to sing in four easy lessons. The free voice lessons will guide you through the primary areas that you need to learn for good vocal production. While you’re learning in the classroom setting, you’ll have many opportunities to put your new-found knowledge to practice. After class, you’ll be invited to join the members of The Blend Chorus on the risers to learn and perform a song.

The Blend Chorus performs regularly throughout the community, offering its talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions such as Larimer Humane Society, Senior Center, Veteran’s events and local senior residences. The chorus is made up of women from all over Northern Colorado and southern Wyoming. As a member, you too can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing with The Blend Chorus. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director.
