Larimer County Republican Party holding public meetings to discuss 2014 caucus

The Larimer County Republican Party will be holding meetings around the county to help voters understand what the Tuesday, March 4 caucuses are and why they are important.

“Voters have an opportunity to shape the Republican party and our candidates for the next two years at caucus. At our Caucus Information Sessions, we will talk about what a caucus is and what participants do at a cauc,” said Jerry Patterson, Larimer Republican Internal Vice Chairman.

“The general election in November is really the finished product of a whole process. Often people complain about their choices on their November ballots. Many don’t even realize that they have a say in who ends up there – starting with their party’s caucus.”

Caucuses are a precinct-level meeting that kicks off the election cycle every two years here in Colorado. In Colorado, a precinct is the smallest political election boundary, encompassing one or two neighborhoods in the cities and larger areas in the rural parts of the county. Most precincts have between 500 to 2,000 registered voters.

Three information sessions will be held:
• Jan. 22 at Estes Park High School – 7 to 9 p.m., 1600 Manford Ave., Estes Park.
• Jan. 28 at Loveland Classical Schools’ Multipurpose Room – 6 to 8 p.m., 3835 14th St SW, Loveland.
• Feb. 1 at Ridgeview Classical Schools’ Performing Arts Center – 6 to 8 p.m., 1800 S. Lemay Ave, Fort Collins.

Larimer County Republican Chairman Patrick Albright is looking forward to energizing the party leading into the 2014 election cycle.

“The 2014 election will be a referendum on the direction of our state and nation. If people want a voice in our representative government, they need to attend their precinct caucuses,” said Albright. “The overreaches of the democrats in social issues, gun control, and health care are a wake up call to all Coloradans and the March 4 Larimer County Republican caucuses are the best way to let your voice be heard.”

More information about the March 4 caucuses, such as caucus locations and other election events will be made available on the Larimer County Republican Party website at
